Free Texting iPhone App launched by Tweetie Creator

THE developer of the imminent official Twitter iPhone app, Loren Brichter has developed a new iPhone app that effectively replaces SMS and MMS.

The app, named Textie, will also work on iPads, is available now in the US and allows users to send text and photo messages for free to friends.

In trials, Textie proved to be user-friendly, although in the free version in-conversation advertising is said to limit the overall experience.

Given the developers Twitter affiliation, the Textie app should see significant traction.
