YouTube to incorporate ad service on mobile site

GOOGLE has announced this week that it would look to monetise mobile version of YouTube with advertisements.

The official YouTube Biz Blog writes that "the increased usage of high-end devices like the iPhone and Android is also making mobile advertising easier and more effective for advertisers," pointing out that the mobile YouTube site has seen a 160 per cent increase in traffic over the past year.

Digital marketing professionals at large will soon be able to purchase banner ads on a per-day basis.

Mobile Marketing Watch says that the news "comes as a blow to rabid YouTube critics claiming that YouTube would falter in finding new ways to create profitable revenue models."

A similar criticism has been leveled at Twitter, who have yet to discover a way to monetize its services.
