Blinkx launches mobile video search engineBLINKX, the video search engine has launched a public beta version of its mobile product, allowing customers to search for online videos from their mobile devices. The beta version works on the iPhone, Google's Nexus One, HTC Desire and Magic, and Blackberry Bold 9700 devices. ?The search engine's mobile homepage was also optimized for smartphone use, displaying a wall of nine thumbnails of the most popular videos. "This year, mobile video has hit the mainstream," said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. "The number of handsets that are video-enabled has reached critical mass, and combined with the prevalence of high-speed mobile networks and new flat-rate data plans, mobile video finally makes sense for both consumers and media companies."
