Met Office goes Android with MubalooBy James Ashworth B2B and B2C mobile app designer and developer Mubaloo yesterday announced the completion and launch of the Met Office’s first ever-Android application. Available through the Android Marketplace, the Met Office app includes a widget and severe weather alerts for users to access important weather information directly from the phone. The app follows up the top ranking Met Office weather app on iOS (iPhone and iPod Touch), which will also be re-launched with a new design and functionality, implemented by Mubaloo. Neil Commander, from Mubaloo said: “It has been hugely enjoyable and a great privilege to design and develop the new Met Office weather applications. The opportunity to work with the Met Office’s comprehensive weather data inspired us to produce an accessible and elegant application that we hope will be well received by existing and future app users.” Key features of the Android app include an up to date weather forecasts and warnings with ‘At a glance’ five day overview. It has three hourly location forecasts with 5,000 locations to choose from with multiple favorites. The iOS app has been updated and includes three hourly forecasts up to five days ahead; UV forecast maps and information on the likelihood of rain or snow. The new design will have better navigation, enabling people to get the most up to date weather information across the UK. Charles Ewen, Head of Web and Media at the Met Office said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of the new Android app and updated iOS app. Both apps are free and offer access to our forecasts 24 hours a day. Mubaloo have delivered both apps on time and to a high spec which we are extremely pleased with.” Leave your comments: |
