SearchMummy announces ‘human assisted' search

SEARCHMUMMY, the provider of mobile search services to European and US customers, today announced support for human assisted search.

The feature is immediately available to subscribers of the SearchMummy.com mobile search service, and web users are expected to have the feature by the end of the year.

"We did a big marketing push in July and have been flooded with semantic search queries which could only be supported by human operators," stated Product Director Julia Vernes. "We felt no choice but to adapt to consumer demand, and it has turned out be a very positive experience for our users."

It’s quite ironic that a business is proudly lauding their use of human operatives in the week that Spinvox was embarrassed by BBC claims that they were using people for transcription services that were thought to be automated.

SearchMummy is not disclosing details on where it is procuring human assisted search guides, however company officials said they were tapping similar sources used by rivals ChaCha.com and KGB.
