Tech giants “more trustworthy” than social media

A NEW survey by Zogby Interactive has shown that technology giants, like Apple and Google, are considered more trustworthy than social networking sites such as Facebook or Twitter.

The poll surveyed 2,100 adults and found that 49 per cent of the people asked trusted the three major technology firms either “completely” or “a lot”. But just eight per cent of those questioned said that they trusted Twitter. People trusted Facebook a little more than Twitter at, 13 per cent.

All of the major technology companies and social media sites ranked higher than traditional media, with only eight per cent of all adults and six per cent of young adults saying that they trusted the media.

This information demonstrates that people put faith in well conceived brand identities and well communicated values, but how trustworthy will the likes of Apple and Google be perceived to be, as privacy concerns escalate in coming years?
