Facebook cited in up to 20 per cent of divorce casesA REPORT carried in today’s Daily Telegraph has suggested that social networking site, Facebook, is cited in as many as one in five divorce cases. The site is being blamed for an increasing number of marital breakdowns, as it is implicated in online flirting, as well as a means via which suspicious spouses have sought to find evidence of flirting and affairs. According to the report, a divorce specialist law firm had claimed almost one in five petitions they processed cited Facebook. The news follows last year’s revelation that a 28-year-old woman discovered her husband had been having a “virtual affair” with someone he had never met. The cyber frolics took place in Second Life – and the amorous cyber couple had certainly used their imaginations in creating avatars that were very flattering and bore little resemblance to them!
