Admob report shows mobile internet dominated by iPhoneGOOGLE owned mobile metrics business Admob has just released its report for October usage showing the Apple iPhone leading the way in many markets. During October, in terms of global smartphone traffic, the iPhone comes in at 50 per cent. In the United States, the figure rises to 55 per cent (with HTC second at 22 per cent), whilst here in the UK the iPhone commands a massive 74 per cent of smartphone mobile internet traffic. Android-based handsets, combined with the iPhone and iPod touch, were responsible for three-quarters of all mobile web traffic in the United States. Over the same period, mobile internet traffic from Blackberry devices dipped by two per cent, whilst Palm's newest handset, the Pre, fared even worse, accounting for just five per cent of mobile web traffic in October compared with 10 per cent the previous month. The use of smartphones to access data and applications, has caused some network issues in the UK. O2 - until recently the exclusive iPhone carrier, encountered periods of downtime, with the company conceding that mobile internet usage placed heavy demands on its 3G network.
