Social Media ban for World Cup PlayersPLAYERS from a number of teams competing for the World Cup in South Africa, are not allowed to tweet, poke, buzz, checkin – or use any other form of social media. Teams known to have social media bans include England, Brazil, Mexico, Holland, Germany, Argentina and Spain. Sex and alcohol bans have been the norm at big tournaments for decades, but as millions of fans worldwide engage in a dialogue over the world’s most popular sporting event, the players won’t be taking part. Whether this is a question of keeping players focussed or restricting the possibility of leaks (inadvertent or otherwise from within the camp) is a mute point! Leave your comments: |
