“Select Your Dex” program allows customised Local SearchCONSUMERS in the US who wish to customise the number of phone books delivered to them now have a new solution. Dex has unveiled Select Your Dex, a program that provides a convenient way for consumers to customise the type and number of Dex directories they receive. The program is part of the company's effort to allow consumers to search for local businesses in the way or ways that are most convenient for them - whether it's through print directories, online local search, voice-enabled service, mobile solution, or any combination of those. "Dex has always been focused on providing consumers with local information in the format they want it in, and the unique and groundbreaking Select Your Dex program continues that tradition," said Maggie Stonecipher, assistant vice president of print and delivery services, Dex. "Whether consumers prefer to use our print directories, DexKnows.com, 1-800-Call-Dex or the Dex mobile solution - the choice is theirs." As US states consider legislation to potentially restrict the distribution of print directories, Stonecipher points out Select Your Dex provides an alternative that benefits everyone. "Allowing consumers to customise their directory orders ensures they only get the directories they want to receive, whether that means one book, multiple books or none. In fact, we've had great support for the program among state legislators, many of whom feel that Select Your Dex is a model the rest of the industry should follow." Charles Laughlin, of information services sector analysts, The Kelsey Group, noted in a recent report that Select Your Dex is "robust" and "easy to use." He wrote that allowing consumers to "make their selection online rather than going through a two-step process of looking up information and then contacting the publisher" offers a simple way to customise directory deliveries.
