Twitter embraces location based servicesTWITTER has brought back its Twitter Places feature for both its web and mobile versions, giving users the opportunity to note their location when they tweet. Other users can then search an area to view all the tweets within a specific geographic radius. Twitter places will become one of the number of location based services, such as Foursquare and Gowalla. The move comes in the wake of Foursquare having recently raised $20million in funding, whilst adding in the region of 15,000 users every day. The sites current user total stands at approximately 2 million. With reports suggesting that location based marketing revenues could be worth up to $20billion it’s no surprise to see Twitter focussing on location, as unlike services such as Foursquare and Gowalla, Twitter already has something in the region of 100million registered users.
