Interactive marketing surges despite ad industry losses

A NEW survey published by Forrester Research suggests that interactive marketing techniques are among the most popular and fastest-growing in the advertising industry.

The research estimates that interactive marketing - search marketing, display advertising, social media, and mobile marketing among other techniques – made up almost a third of the travel and hospitality industry's marketing budget in 2009. Total spending across all industries on interactive marketing will be $4.7 billion.

Other sectors that spent big on interactive marketing during the period were the retail and financial industries. Over the same period internet ad spending declined.

Internet Retailer has also predicted that annual total spent on interactive marketing will increase to $8.6 billion by the year 2014. By this point they also expect internet ad spending to have recovered.
