Telefonica and Genasys partner to deliver location based services

TELEFONICA has announced that it will partner with Spanish business Genasys to deliver service to the Latin American market.

Within the framework of the agreement, Genasys will deploy location infrastructure using the cellular network, as well as assisted GPS, in the 13 operators of the Telefónica group in Latin America, as well as a comprehensive range of location solutions for the residential and enterprise market of over 130 million clients.

The commitment to LBS is part of Telefonica's strategic plan to boost the Latin American market, making innovative mobile solutions available to its customers.

Genasys specialise in infrastructure and location solutions, as well as the management of geographic data. Its technology has been implemented by some of the world largest telecommunications operators such as Telefónica, Vodafone and SingTel. The business offers a portfolio of middleware products for the different location technologies, based on satellites or land networks and several applications that use location information.

Genasys has been expanding its presence year after year in other market segments such as security, banking, insurance and transport companies and public service, offering its portfolio of products and solutions to respond to the needs of each one of these segments and their customers.
