LinkedIn acquires mSpoke

THE BUSINESS oriented social networking site, LinkedIn, has made its first acquisition, buying recommendation service mSpoke for an undisclosed fee.

LinkedIn , which recently saw its valuation jump above $2 billion, has made what looks like a technology buy  as the site looks to keep users more engaged. LinkedIn’s CEO Jeff Weiner said: “mSpoke and LinkedIn’s shared focus on generating relevant content make this acquisition a natural fit for us. We’re actively investing in solutions that help deliver valuable professional insights to LinkedIn members.”

The site has recently worked on its social features, such as the news feed that now takes up most of the space on homepages and revamping its Groups feature with “Likes,” Follows and Discussions options – although this hasn’t been universally popular.
