China to have over 400,000 3G base stations by 2011CHINA will have set up over 400,000 3G mobile comms base stations by the end of 2011, capable of supporting 40 million subscribers using the network simultaneously, according to Ding Wenwu, the deputy director of the Chinese Telecoms and IT ministry. Sales Chinese mobile phones exceeded 180 million in 2009, and subscriber numbers topped 778.7 million in Q1 this year, whilst mobile internet users reached 233 million by the end of last year – a staggering figure that accounts for just over 60 per cent of China’s total internet users.
