Would you quit facebook over privacy?

Hazel Rycroft

YESTERDAY was the day that 34484 people committed to quit facebook over privacy. The group was set up to protest against the privacy problems on Facebook, but was their call to action heard? The number that had pledged to leave was insignificant when compared with Facebook's more than 400 million users. So how many people are bothered about privacy but unable to go cold turkey?

"Quitting Facebook isn't easy," the group said. "Facebook is engaging, enjoyable and quite frankly, addictive. Quitting something like Facebook is like quitting smoking. It's hard to stay on the wagon long enough to actually change your habits."

In response to the growing outcry over privacy concerns, Facebook made extensive updates to user privacy controls. But will it be good enough?
