Google Voice set for launch?

GOOGLE seems all set to launch the Google Voice service, as according to a report by Gizmodo, it has reserved more than one million numbers with the service provider Level 3.

The Google Voice service is expected to give users one number for all calls and SMS. The service is reported to include features such as call screening, block calls and calls to US numbers for free, as well as providing voicemail transcripts, listen to voicemail, receive voicemails via email or SMS and forward or download voicemails. A series of other features include conference calling, switch phones during a call, check directory assistance and set preferences by group. It also enables users to view the inbox from their mobile phone.

Google acquired GrandCentral in March 2007 and Google Voice is set to be the next version of GrandCentral. Google Voice is currently only available for GrandCentral users only, although there is yet to be confirmation from Google regarding the launch of the service.
