Call Genie partners with Statsfone over sports app

CALL Genie, the local search and advertising tech specialist, has announced that it has entered into an agreement with StatsFone to provide an application that allows sports fans to call and vote for man of the match, and receive ads and coupons through the caller experience.

Initially, Call Genie will be providing a hosting facility and a voice portal access solution for StatsFone to install, configure, run and maintain the application. Using the StatsFone technology and relationships with various established statistics providers, StatsFone has set out to be a leading voice portal for sports data to the over fifty million sports fans in North America.

The initial rollout will allow fans watching televised hockey games to call and vote for the “player of the game”, using nothing but their voice. The business model is driven by transactional fees paid by owners of the rights to the games and advertisers. StatsFone is currently targeting NHL and other North American sports leagues.

“Our agreement with Call Genie offers StatsFone expanded voice portal capacity and improved access to the US market”, said Gordon Wilson, President of StatsFone. ”A recent testing of the

StatsFone application with a Canadian NHL team was very successful and as we grow and expand to other North American sports teams and markets we will need the expertise and expansion.

Michael Durance, CEO of Call Genie added, “We are very excited to see our solutions continue to enable applications targeted at the entertainment industry.”

Call Genie is a global provider of local mobile search and advertising solutions that connect ready to transact consumers directly with local merchants for local directory businesses, directory assistance services and local media publishers. This latest development sees them continue to broaden their portfolio of service beyond the remit of traditional information services.
