Google AdMob Deal Cleared by FTCGOOGLE yesterday closed the deal to acquire Admob having been given approval from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to acquire AdMob in a deal worth $750 million (£520 million). The FTC has previously blocked Apple from a similar deal with AdMob fearing that Apple would then control mobile advertising. When Apple then went on to launch its own advertising platform iAd, which may have helped the decision to approve the deal with Google. AdMob’s chief executive Omar Hamoui said: “We are excited to get to what’s next and to start working with Google to develop new products and services for our advertisers, developers and publishers. We share a commitment to helping our customers navigate and take advantage of the mobile opportunity,” quoted the Internet Advertising Bureau. Hamoui then sent out an email address yesterday evening, in which he added: “We are all excited to start working with the team at Google. While we are still working to figure out a lot of the details, I want to assure you of two things. Our advertiser and publisher partners continue to be our top priority. Everyone at AdMob, including our senior executives, sales, marketing, product, engineering, business development, and support teams remain 100% focused on continuing to provide the products and service you have come to expect from us.” Secondly, he added: “We are committed to delivering a smooth integration process. We are starting to work with Google to bring our products and teams together, and collaborate on building new products and features for our customers. Because this will take some time, we will continue to work with you on a business-as-usual basis for the time being. We are committed to making this integration happen as seamlessly as possible and will keep you updated as we bring our businesses together.” Leave your comments: |
