Android users more likely to view mobile ads

A NEW report by US online advertisinng network Chitika, has claimed that Android users are 81 per cent more likely to click though mobile ads than iPhone users.

Chitika examined  1.3 million mobile ads across its network to compile the data and found the click-through rate on its ads to be 0.654 per cent on iPhones, against 1.187 per cent on Android devices. The company serves around 2 billion ads to 80,000 websites each month.

The research follows the news earlier this month that Android had officially overtaken the iPhone in terms of new subscribers, taking 27 per cent of new smartphone sales in the US, compared to Apple’s 23 per cent.

Recent research has suggested that mobile marketing will make up 20 per cent of all online advertising next year.
