Apple acquires iPhone mobile search App Developer Siri

APPLE has this week acquired Siri the mobile search app developer in a deal thought to be worth approximately $200 million.

Siri’s mobile search application for the iPhone 3GS and iPod touch allows users to search on mobile devices via voice or text.

The move illustrates Apple’s desire to get into mobile search and rival Google’s voice search feature and raises the question as to whether or not they might be considering building their own mobile search engine.

Apple clearly has the scent of blood in its nostrils, as it also acquired chip maker Intrinsity for $120 million this week.
