Microsoft launches BING search engine

MICROSOFT, the global software leviathon have launched their new search engine – Bing - in the hope that it will initially win market share and ultimately compete with market leader Google in the online search field.

Yusuf Mehdi, senior vice president for Microsoft's online services division, has acknowledged getting ahead of Google will be a very serious undertaking.

He said: “It’s a very tall marketing challenge and a very tall product challenge. It’s going to take multiple steps to get where we want to go and this is the first step.”

Outlining the strategy for BING, Mr. Mehdi said the search engine has two goals: “Win a fan base and start to grow share.”
